Sanctions have greatly complicated trade relations with Western countries and forced Russia to pay attention to its other partners in the East. Especially over these few years, trade has intensified with one of the closest big neighbors – China. The trade turnover between the two countries has grown by half in 2023 and is showing positive dynamics this year as well. Therefore, cargo delivery services from China are in great demand today.
The composition of imports to Russia from China
In general, if we analyze imported goods from China, then one way or another the main share of imports falls on a variety of equipment and electronics. In 2023, Chinese cars took a huge share. First of all, this is due to the same notorious Western sanctions: the import of European and American cars almost stopped, the factories of the world’s Western automobile concerns stopped their work, and even if the cars were imported, the price for them rose significantly. Against this background, technologically advanced, but affordable cars from China were able to win a place in the sun in the Russian car market. In general, for the same reason, they began to buy more and other transport, mainly ground, such as buses. Special equipment is also gaining popularity: tractors, bulldozers, etc. They also buy industrial equipment. Chinese tools and spare parts for equipment are also in demand.
As for electronics, the lion’s share of purchases was made up of phones from the Middle Kingdom, monitors and other gadgets. Technological, but more acceptable devices, especially in the budget and mid-price segments, are very popular among Russians.
Rubber and rubber products, in particular automobile and other tires, organic chemistry (for example, fertilizers) are also actively imported into the country from the Middle Kingdom. Supplies of footwear products (especially those whose top is made of polymers and textiles) and clothing (primarily upper) increased significantly. They also actively acquire plastic and ferrous metal products.
